How to Use the Notetag Editor

A step-by-step guide to generating perfect notetags for your RPG Maker MZ plugins

Select Plugin

Navigate to the Editor and browse the plugin database in the left panel. Use the search bar or category filters to find the plugin you need.

💡 Tip

Plugins are organized by category (Battle, Skills, Items, etc.) for efficient navigation. Current database includes 71 plugins with 783 notetags.

Choose Notetag

After selecting a plugin, available notetags will appear in the middle panel. Each notetag displays:

  • Scope: Which database entries can use it (Actor, Item, Skill, State, etc.)
  • Description: What the notetag does
  • Parameters: Available configuration options

Configure Parameters

The parameter form renders dynamically based on the selected notetag. Input types include:

Text Input
For custom values and formulas
Number Input
For numeric values
Select Dropdown
For predefined choices
Checkbox
For boolean true/false

All fields include default values and descriptions. Real-time validation ensures correctness.

Copy Generated Notetag

The output panel displays the generated notetag in real-time as you configure parameters. When satisfied with the result, click the "Copy to Clipboard" button.

Use in RPG Maker MZ

Paste the notetag into your RPG Maker MZ database:

  1. 1. Open the appropriate database (Actors, Items, Skills, States, etc.)
  2. 2. Select the entry you want to modify
  3. 3. Locate the "Note" field (usually at the bottom)
  4. 4. Paste the notetag (Ctrl+V or Cmd+V)
  5. 5. Save your changes
